This site was first created in 1996 with the purpose of being a Classroom Activitiy Center for students.  That purpose has blossomed to do much more...

WithOutWalls is a means to share successesful integration into lessons of web-based activities and computer-related tools with educators. Having met and collaborated with like-minded educators, I wish to share the wealth of knowledge.  Hopefully you will contribute to the pool as we should learn from each other.

2. Workshops Learn how a team of educators, experienced in computer-technology integration, can present hands-on workshops for your faculty and administration.
3. Resources Listed are need-to-know sites for incorporation into lessons, research, collaboration, and legal issues of privacy and copy right laws.
4. Forum Exchange questions, ideas, and expertise in this discussion web.   Potential opportunities for collaborations.
5. Tutorials Want to learn how to integrate computer technology into your lessons on your own? Access our tutorials as they are developed.  If you struggle, send an email and someone will assist you.
6. News Updates regarding the site and in the world of education will be posted here.  Also, featured guests' articles can be found archived here. Perhaps you have something important to share.

McCarthy's Activity Center

My classroom website contains web-based activities (webquests) that promote higher cognitive learning, such as analysis, evaluation, and synthesis of ideas through enhancement of communication amongst themselves and with myself. I have been fortunate to have been recognized in my efforts.  Some additional benefits have been:

  1. Students use this site for curriculum activities enhanced by the Internet.  Other related information is posted to keep them well informed, such as grades and lesson plans.  They are able to contact me when not in my class.  Some students prefer this method.
  2. Parents are kept informed of children's grades and lessons.  Correspondence with myself is made easier and quicker than playing phone tag.  There are resource links specifically for parents.  Input and expertise is welcomed regarding this idea.

Thank you for your interest.  Hopefully, you will find this site continually useful.
