Detail Performance Exam
- Prepare a dish that will serve 5 people. Bring to
class.
- Hand write (or type) the recipe.
- Write a 150 word appetizing description of the dish using all
five senses. Include an environment (place) where you envision the dish being eaten
(scene snapshot). This should be written on the bottom half of your paper.
Turn in two copies.
- Include all five senses. Three of the five senses must
be used twice.
- Use two similes.
- On one copy of the description: label the senses where used
and circle two similes.

parent below.
Parent and Student Note:
It is critical that the students prepare the dish without assistance. Following a
recipe teaches students the importance of writing clear instructions or details that
someone else can understand.
Their struggles with cooking will be a positive experience for future assignments this
quarter. Thank you for allowing the student to do this activity independently.
