McCarthy's Activity Center
My classroom website contains web-based activities (webquests) that promote
higher cognitive learning, such as analysis, evaluation, and synthesis of ideas through
enhancement of communication amongst themselves and with myself. I have been fortunate to
have been recognized in my efforts. Some
additional benefits have been:
- Students use this site for
curriculum activities enhanced by the Internet. Other related information is posted
to keep them well informed, such as grades and lesson plans. They are able to
contact me when not in my class. Some students prefer this method.
- Parents are kept informed of
children's grades and lessons. Correspondence with myself is made easier and quicker
than playing phone tag. There are resource links specifically for parents.
Input and expertise is welcomed regarding this idea.
Thank you for your interest. Hopefully, you will find
this site continually useful.
