Purpose:

How would you like to go to Meijers' Garden in Grand Rapids. Or maybe you want to stay closer to home and visit the African-American Museum in Detroit? A play? As a team of 2 to 3, research a field trip in Michigan. Find the ideal cultural event for the class to attend after Winter Break. If your presentation is persuasive enough as a realistic plan, it could be chosen for our field trip.

REMINDER: Purpose of a PowerPoint presentation is to enhance what you have to say, not take the place.  Think of it as a visual outline of your ideas--a guide for you and your audience.

Prerequisites:

  1. Internet skills
  2. Advertisement Unit

Goals:

  1. Evaluate potential field trips for cultural value based on newspapers and sites on the Internet.
  2. Use communications skills of phone and letter writing to gather information and permissions for usage of copyrighted materials.
  3. Practice and evaluate communication approaches for effective team dynamics, in the areas of listening and cooperating.
  4. Analyze and evaluate the most persuasive way of presenting information on their selected field trip through use of advertisement devices and organizational styles.
  5. Synthesize research into a persuasive PowerPoint presentation.
